Do Coaching Plans Change Automatically? (Coach)

How Auto Upgrade works, when your plan moves up automatically, how billing is handled, and how to turn it off if you prefer manual control.

Yes - from 6 May 2026, FITR plans can change automatically via a feature called Auto Upgrade. When a new client pushes you past your current level cap, FITR moves you to the next level instantly so the signup goes through without interruption. Auto Upgrade is enabled by default on all paid accounts and you can turn it off at any time.

📋 When to use this

  • You want to understand whether FITR will move you to a higher level automatically

  • You received a notification saying you have been upgraded and want to know what happened

  • You want to turn Auto Upgrade off and manage your level manually

  • You want to understand how billing works when a level change happens

🔼 What is Auto Upgrade?

Auto Upgrade is built into every paid FITR account. When your active client count exceeds your current level cap, FITR detects this and moves you to the next level instantly - no manual action needed, no blocked signups, no admin on your end.

Here is what it looks like in practice. You are on Band 2 with 10 active clients - your current level cap. A new client clicks your signup link while you are offline. Without Auto Upgrade, that client would see an error and not be able to join. With Auto Upgrade on, FITR detects the new signup would push you past Band 2, moves you to Band 3 instantly, and the client signs up without any interruption. You receive an email confirming the level change. The sale is captured. No one had to do anything.

Auto Upgrade moves one level at a time. It will not jump you from Band 2 to Band 5 in one step. Each level is reached sequentially as your client count crosses each threshold.

Every paid level includes every feature. Auto Upgrade moves you up because your client count grew - not to unlock features. You already have the full platform at every paid level.

💰 How billing works when you level up

When Auto Upgrade moves you to a new level, your new client cap applies immediately. The new pricing kicks in from your next billing cycle - you are not charged retroactively for the current period.

You will receive an email notification the moment the upgrade happens, showing your new level, your new client cap, and when the new pricing takes effect.

Coaches on grandfathered pricing: if you were on FITR before 6 May 2026, your grandfathered pricing applies to your current level. An Auto Upgrade is a level change, so the new pricing for that higher level will apply from your next billing cycle. See FITR Pricing: Overview for full details on pricing protection.

🎛️ How to turn Auto Upgrade off (or back on)

Auto Upgrade is fully in your control. You can disable it at any time from Settings.

To turn Auto Upgrade off:

  1. Go to Settings in the left-hand navigation

  2. Select the Subscription tab

  3. Find the Auto Upgrade toggle

  4. Click the toggle to disable it

  5. Confirm by selecting Disable Auto Upgrade

To turn it back on, follow the same steps and toggle it back to enabled.

ℹ️ What happens when Auto Upgrade is off

With Auto Upgrade disabled, your account returns to manual mode. When you reach your current level cap, new client signups will be blocked until you upgrade manually.

You will receive in-app notifications and email prompts as you approach and reach your cap, so you can upgrade before new signups are affected.

To upgrade manually, go to Settings > Subscription > Manage My Plan and select your next level.

🔧 Troubleshooting and FAQs

I received a notification that I was Auto Upgraded - is this correct?

Yes, if your active client count crossed your level cap, Auto Upgrade moves you to the next level automatically. Check your client list to confirm. If you believe the upgrade was triggered by a test client or in error, contact support.

I've been charged more than expected

An Auto Upgrade adjusts your level but new pricing only applies from your next billing cycle - you should not see an immediate extra charge. If you see an unexpected amount, check your billing history in Settings > Billing for a full breakdown. If it still does not make sense, contact support with your account email and a screenshot.

New clients cannot subscribe even though I have not manually upgraded

If Auto Upgrade is turned off, new signups will be blocked once you hit your level cap. Go to Settings > Subscription to either upgrade manually or re-enable Auto Upgrade.

A test client triggered an Auto Upgrade I did not intend

Remove the test client from your account, then contact support. These cases are handled individually and can be reviewed for a billing adjustment.

💬 Contact Support if...

  • You believe an Auto Upgrade triggered incorrectly

  • A test client caused an upgrade you did not intend

  • You have been charged an unexpected amount and cannot identify the reason after checking your billing history

  • Your plan appears to have changed without any new client signing up

Please include your FITR account email and your current level and the level you were on before.
