Managing your level: upgrading and downgrading (Coach)

How to upgrade or downgrade your FITR level, how Auto Upgrade works, when changes take effect, and what to know about pricing when you move levels.

Your FITR level is based on your active client count. This article covers how to move between levels - manually or via Auto Upgrade - and what to expect when you do.

πŸ“‹ How levels work

Each level has a client cap. When your active client count grows beyond your current cap, you move up to the next level. When it drops below a lower level's cap and you choose to move down, you move to that level.

An active client is any client with a subscription - free or paid - to one of your programmes. Clients who have made a one-off Fixed Length programme purchase do not count toward your level.

Your current level and client count are visible at any time in Settings β†’ Subscription.

Existing coaches: changing your level applies new pricing.

If you were on FITR before 6th May 2026, your current pricing is protected - but moving to a different level (up or down) applies the new pricing for that level.

Switching billing frequency on the same level does not count as a level change. See FITR pricing: Overview for full details.

πŸ”Ό Auto Upgrade

Auto Upgrade handles level changes for you automatically. When a new client pushes you past your current cap, FITR moves you to the next level instantly - so no client is ever blocked from signing up.

It is enabled by default on all paid accounts. The level change happens immediately; the new pricing kicks in from your next billing cycle.

You can turn Auto Upgrade off at any time in Settings β†’ Subscription β†’ Auto Upgrade. For everything you need to know about how it works, see the Auto Upgrade article.

⬆️ How to upgrade manually

If you have Auto Upgrade turned off and want to move to a higher level yourself:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Subscription β†’ Manage My Plan

  2. Select the level you want to move to

  3. Complete checkout

Upgrades take effect immediately. Your new client cap applies from that moment. New pricing takes effect from your next billing cycle.

⬇️ How to downgrade

To move to a lower level, your active client count needs to be within that level's cap before the downgrade can process.

  1. Reduce your active client count to fit within the lower level's cap

  2. Go to Settings β†’ Subscription β†’ Manage My Plan and select the lower level

Downgrades take effect at your next billing date. If your client count is still above the lower level's cap when the downgrade is due, it will not go through - you will receive a notification to adjust your count first.

Downgrading to the Free Plan removes access to Tracks, Zapier, Customisation, supersets, custom exercises, multiple coach notes, and unlimited downloads. These features are only available on paid levels.
