Business Automation fee: what it is and what it powers (Coach)

What the Business Automation fee is, what it covers, and how it powers the financial infrastructure behind your coaching business.

Running a coaching business on FITR means you never need a separate finance team, tax software, invoicing tool, or payment dispute process.

The Business Automation fee is what makes that possible - a flat 5.99% on revenue you process through FITR, covering the full layer of financial infrastructure that runs your business behind the scenes.

πŸ’³ What is the Business Automation fee?

The Business Automation fee is a flat 5.99% applied to revenue your clients pay through FITR. It is separate from your subscription and scales with what you earn - so when revenue is low, the fee is low.

It is a single flat rate. There are no add-ons, no modules to unlock, and no hidden charges on top. Everything listed below is included.

πŸ› οΈ What it covers

Financial dashboard and reporting -

Real-time sales reporting, monthly recurring income, top clients by spend, revenue by programme, conversion and retention rates, and historical trend analysis. Everything you need to understand your business at a glance.

Tax and accounting automation -

Automatic tax calculation on every transaction. Tax collection, reporting, and year-end summaries ready for your accountant. VAT handling in the UK, sales tax in the US, GST where applicable. Powered by Stripe.

Invoicing and receipts -

Invoices generated automatically for every client payment. Receipts issued on completion. Refunds and disputes handled through FITR. CSV exports of all transaction data for your records.

Failed payment handling -

Smart retry logic for failed payments, with automated card update reminders sent to clients. Reduces the manual chasing that most coaches deal with every month.

Automated access control -

This is the part most coaches do not realise they are paying for - and the part that saves the most time. FITR automatically gates access to your programmes based on payment status. A client whose payment fails loses access until it is resolved. A client who cancels is removed cleanly. A client who pays is in immediately. No spreadsheets, no manual checks, no chasing.

What this means in practice: a coach with 30 paying clients never has to manually check who has and hasn't paid this month. FITR does it automatically, every billing cycle, for every client.

πŸ”Œ Stripe and FITR: what each one does

Some coaches notice Stripe referenced in their billing and ask whether the Business Automation fee is just Stripe fees by another name. It is not. The two are separate and do different things.

Stripe moves money from your client's card to your connected account. It handles card processing, network fees, and basic compliance. Stripe's standard processing fees are passed through directly - FITR does not mark these up.

FITR handles everything built on top of that payment rail. The financial dashboard you log into. The tax calculations that run on every transaction. The invoice sent to your client. The access control that removes a non-paying client from your programme. The dispute process when something goes wrong. None of that is Stripe. All of it is FITR.

Stripe is the wire. FITR is the operation built on top. If you removed FITR and went direct to Stripe, you would have card processing and nothing else. The Business Automation fee is what powers everything Stripe does not do.

🧾 How it is calculated

The Business Automation fee applies to revenue your clients pay you through FITR - program subscriptions, one-off purchases, and any other payments processed on the platform.

It does not apply to your FITR subscription cost. It applies only to client revenue you process.

You can see a breakdown of Business Automation fees in your financial dashboard under Payments β†’ Reports.
