Macros for Coaches — Full Guide (Coach)

How to add Macros blocks to programs, set exact or bodyweight-based targets, use the Macro Calculator, and review client adherence in Review Mode.

Updated today

Macros lets you assign daily nutrition targets to clients directly inside your programs. Clients log their intake via Apple Health or Google Health Connect, and you can review adherence in Review Mode.

📋 When to use this

  • You want to assign protein, carb, and fat targets alongside training

  • You want to track macro adherence across your client base

🖥 How to add a Macros block to a day

  1. Open your program schedule

  2. Hover over a day — the Macros icon will appear. Click it to add a Macros block

  3. You can also add it from within Build Mode using the Macros action button

Only one Macros block per day is allowed. If a block already exists on that day, you will be asked whether to replace or keep it. The Macros block appears at the top of the day so it is easy to see at a glance.

⚙️ Setting macro targets — two methods

Exact targets — set specific gram values for Protein, Carbs, and Fat. Best for 1-2-1 coaching where each client has precise individual goals. Calories are auto-calculated using: Calories = (Protein × 4) + (Carbs × 4) + (Fat × 9)

Bodyweight-based targets — set targets as a ratio per kg of bodyweight (e.g. 1.5g protein per kg). FITR calculates each client's actual targets using their recorded weight. Best for group programs where the same formula applies at scale. Clients must have a bodyweight logged for this to work.

Group programs default to bodyweight-based targets. 1-2-1 programs default to exact targets. You can switch between modes at any time — previously entered values are saved.

⚙️ Macro Calculator

Use the built-in Macro Calculator to estimate appropriate targets for a client, then copy them directly into the Macros block with one click.

  1. Open a new Macros block and select Macro Calculator

  2. Choose a BMR formula — Harris-Benedict or Mifflin-St Jeor

  3. Complete all fields: gender, age, weight, height, activity level

  4. Select a macro split: Balanced (30/40/30), High Protein (40/30/30), Low Carb (30/20/50), or Low Fat (30/50/20)

  5. Click Copy to Macros to apply the results

Which formula to use: Mifflin-St Jeor is more accurate for most clients today (slightly lower calorie estimates — best for fat loss or recomp). Harris-Benedict gives slightly higher estimates — best if you prefer a higher calorie baseline.

⚙️ Reviewing macro adherence

In Review Mode, you can see client macro adherence alongside their training:

  • Assigned targets appear at the top

  • Client logs appear underneath

  • Clients are grouped into Completed (logged any macros) and Missed (nothing logged)

  • You can message an individual client or bulk message everyone in either group

Only clients with macro targets assigned on a program or track appear in this view.
