Macros for Clients: Connecting Your Nutrition App (Client)

How to connect your nutrition tracking app to FITR via Apple Health or Google Health Connect, and what macro data gets synced.

Updated today

FITR connects to your nutrition tracking app via your device's health platform (Apple Health on iOS, Google Health Connect on Android). Once connected, your macro intake syncs automatically and appears alongside your training data in the app.

πŸ“‹ When to use this

  • You want to connect MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, or another nutrition app to FITR

  • Your macro data is not syncing and you want to check the setup

  • You want to know which nutrients FITR tracks

πŸ“± How to connect your nutrition app

  1. Open the FITR app and tap the heart icon in the footer menu to open the Lifestyle section

  2. Select the prompt Record macros with and choose:

    • Apple Health (iOS)

    • Google Health Connect (Android)

  3. Tap Allow to grant FITR access to your device health data

  4. Select the macro targets you want to track - you will see all programs and tracks that have macro targets set by your coach

Make sure your nutrition app (e.g. MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, MacrosFirst) is already connected to Apple Health or Google Health Connect. FITR pulls data from the device platform - any app that syncs with it will work automatically.

πŸ“Š What data FITR syncs

When you first connect, FITR pulls your most recent macro intake and some historical nutrition data. The following nutrients are tracked:

  • Protein, Carbs, Fat, Calories

  • Iron, Potassium, Fibre (where available from your app)

πŸ”§ Troubleshooting and FAQs

My nutrition data is not appearing in FITR after connecting

  • Cause: Your nutrition app may not be connected to Apple Health or Google Health Connect, or permissions may not have been granted.

  • Fix: Open your device's Health app and check that your nutrition app has read/write access enabled. Then reopen FITR and check again.
